ETHEL CARLISLE                    

March 7, 1940 – August 6, 2026

Ethel B. Carlisle, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and cherished family member, passed away on August 6, 2026, at the age of 86.

Ethel was born on March 7, 1940, to the late Alice and Coy McGlon. From an early age, Ethel displayed a remarkable intelligence and a natural ability to learn. Because of her academic ability, she advanced from the 4th grade directly to the 6th grade, a testament to her intelligence and determination. She later attended D.A. Smith High School.

At an early age, Ethel joined Union Grove Baptist Church, where she began her Christian journey and established a foundation of faith that remained an important part of her life.

Ethel will always be remembered for the love she gave to her family, her strength, her intelligence, her faith, and the many memories she created with those who were blessed to know her.

Ethel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ishmon Carlisle; her parents, Alice and Coy McGlon; her two daughters, Cynthia Carlisle and Debra Carlisle; and her siblings, Arthur McGlon, Marvin McGlon, T.C. McGlon, Hattie P. Tellis, Dorothy Barnes, and May Frances McGlon.

Those Left to Cherish Her Memory

Ethel leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, David (Renia) Barnes and Willie (Angela) Carlisle; and her daughter, Cheryl Carlisle.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Willie F. Carlisle, Carlisa Carlisle, Commando (Veverlyn) Carlisle, Sabrina (Herbert) Phillips, Marcia Stanford, David Barnes, Adrian Grimes, Armanda Carlisle, Jamari Carlisle, and Imani Carlisle.

She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to carry her love, legacy, and memory forward.

She also leaves behind a special friend, Ms. Willa Dean Rumph, along with cherished family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Although her passing leaves a deep emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, Ethel’s memory will live on through the family and friends she leaves behind. The love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created will be treasured forever.

Today, we gather not only to mourn her passing, but to celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Her presence may no longer be with us, but her memory will remain in our hearts forever.

Rest peacefully, Ethel. You will be deeply loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
