Mr. Alonzo Tyrone Pipkin, affectionately known to many as “Zo,” was born on August 11, 1975, in Fort Benning, Georgia. Alonzo unexpectedly transitioned and entered into heaven on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at 11:45 p.m.
As a young boy, Alonzo was an active football player at the Boys and Girls Club. As a young man at Central High School, he played as a tight end. Alonzo was a good and loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He would give anything and everything to everybody. He was very protective and everyone’s bodyguard when he was around. He was the life of any gathering. Alonzo enjoyed spending time with family and friends and most of all being a father to his sons, an uncle to his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Alonzo was preceded in death by Alonzo Nyyky, Kamari Pipkin, and his grandparents, George Washington and Bertha Lee Pitts and John and Phyllis Pipkin. Left to cherish Alonzo’s memories are his mother, Bertha Pipkin, of Columbus, Georgia, and father, Tyrone Pipkin (Gloria) of Atlanta, Georgia; his son, Jaquavious Matthews; sisters, Shemika Pipkin of Atlanta, Georgia, Catherine Browder (Tyrone) of Montgomery, Alabama,and Lakeisha Phillips of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Reginald Mccalla and Vernon Pipkin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael Pipkin of Columbus, Georgia; nieces, Jakaya Pipkin, Brittney Browder of Montgomery, Alabama, and Titianna Browder; nephews, Xavier Garnet, Jamal Pipkin, Jamar Pipkin, and Brandon Patterson; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by his aunt, Dorothy Morgan (Freddie) of Phenix City, Alabama; uncle, Willie (Elaine) Pitts of Phenix City, Alabama; aunt, Veronica (Larry) Bynum of High Point, North Carolina; and uncle, John (Tee) Pipkin, of Germany.
